I have been a very busy blogger recently attending lots of events and I have some exciting new products to show you all!  The first of which are the new Clinique Chubby Sticks!  The event was held at the Estee Lauder offices in Central London and we were greeted with the biggest jelly tower – how bloody cool is that!  Amrita (6 Inch Stilettos) and Jen (Beauty Junkie London) had a giggle prodding and poking them – they had extra gelatine in so they wobbled like crazy.

We had a chance to talk and play around with the new Chubby Sticks that have just been released – they are basically like a sheer lipstick/balm and come in eight different colours.chubbysticks

I was given six to take home and try out, swatches below!

We managed to take a photograph of all eight of them, which you can see below – swatches below on the lovely Amrita’s hand!

What I think – I’m pleasantly surprised and impressed by these little beauties and they have become firm staples in my handbag.  I can’t get over just how moisturizing they are, it actually just feels like you are applying lip balm, just with a great tint of colour.  These are super sheer but you can build them up to be more pigmented.  I quite like the fact that they are so sheer, it means I can apply without looking in the mirror and they aren’t too heavy to wear in the summer.

Also, to get more product you simply twist the bottom, like a lipstick, this makes it much easier than a lip crayon that you have to sharpen and waste lots of product.  My favourite from the range is ‘Whole Lotta Honey’, which I’ve been carrying every where and wearing every day and I also adore ‘Woopin’ Watermelon’ and ‘Mega Melon’.

These retail at £13.50 a stick – which I’ll admit is expensive, but if it doubles up as a lip balm then I think its worth it.  My lips haven’t felt so soft wearing a lip colour in a long time.

Which one of these are you eyeing up? What’s your favourite sheer lip product?

Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin

Posted by mickung

Last month I attended an event hosted by Goody, a hair styling brand that I personally hadn’t heard of before, but I learnt its extremely popular in the USA.  Goody have recently bought out a range of ‘Simple Styling’ tools that are very affordable, and can be used numerous ways to achieve great hair styles.  We had top session stylist, Neil Moodie, teaching us how to use the tools and showing us what we can achieve with them.

goody

One of my favourite tools from the four released is the Spin Pin – its actually amazing girls, you won’t believe how it works.  Below are two simple bun styles that are very easy to do with the spin pins, even I achieved them with my 23inch long, thick hair.

So they basically look like like little screws and that's exactly how you use them, by screwing them clockwise into an up do. I swear to you that they will hold your hair in place all day.  You will never need a hair band or a bunch of bobby pins again.  Its hard to explain cause it sounds like it would never work but they do!  So above in my photographs you can see two example of buns that you can do with the pins and once they’re in, they’re in and you can’t even see them sticking out provided you screw them in enough.  To remove them you literally just find them in the bun and screw them counter-clockwise.

It says online that using the pins are the equivalent of using 20 bobby pins, which is really impressive, I think!  In each Spin Pin set you get two screw pins and you can buy them in either ‘blonde’ (which I used), or brunette.  You can buy them from Boots, Asda or Morrissons and you get two for £4.98, which I think it pretty affordable if you think of how much money you spend on bobby pins throughout a year!  They’re also a great conversation starter – I’ve used these infront of friends and I always get a ‘woww, what on earth is that!’ reaction which is pretty funny.

Have you ever tried these or will you be trying them?  How do you wear your hair most?

Last Friday I was lucky enough to attend the Sleek Makeup ‘Destination S’ event in Shoreditch.  I absolutely adore Sleek and their products and so I was very excited to see what they had in store for us!   We were greeted with a bag and a cheque book, full of pages that we could tear out to enter competitions and collect prizes.  I loved the interactive side of this event, it was great to get hands on with new products!  We had our lip ‘prints’ read by a fortune telling man (apparently I’m the Chinese element of wood - energetic, outgoing, don’t like people being late etc – all so true!), we had our skin matched up to one of Sleek’s 30 new foundation shades, we had to create and mix our own ideal lipstick colour, had to try our hand at guessing ten Caribbean maps AND we had a Zumba lesson and competition!

I’ll tell you first about a few new collections coming out and then more details about what we got up to!

So we got a sneak peak of a few new i-divine eyeshadow palettes that are set to make their debut this year, my favourite two being the Nude palette and the Oh So Special palette - both filled with wearable neutrals and browns that I could easily wear every day of the week – I can’t wait to get my mitts on these!  Along with the Nude palette, a nude blush and lip polish are also going to be released, both again super pretty and wearable, I suspect they’ll be very popular!

Another two LE ranges coming out is the Caribbean and Mediterranean collections, each with a palette, blush and lip polish.  Both of the ranges have stunningly bright colours which are beautiful and perfect for the summer and adding a bit of colour to you outfits.  I absolutely love the look of the orange blush and lip pout in the Caribbean range and the orange/coral will be playing a major colour role in my spring/summer makeup.  We were given the Mediterranean collection to play with so expect a full review of the range in the next few days.

Another product that I absolutely can’t wait to launch is the Pout Paints – these are very very similar to the OCC Lip Tars but I suspect will be more affordable.  They are basically intense pigmented lip paints that you literally need a dab of to paint the lips – and the best bit is that you can mix them to create your very own signature shade.  One of the tasks in the event was to create your own shade with the ten pout paints available, and the best colour was to win a Marc Jacobs watch, and guess what… I WON!!!!  How incredible is that!

poutpaint

So above is the area where we had to mix our own individual pout shades.  I chose to mix a pink, peach and white to create the perfect creamy peach shade which I will be sporting this summer and below is my creation and my swatches!

creation

I must say, I’m pretty damned proud of my little concoction and its made me want to design my whole own lip colour range (that really would be my dream job – to make my own makeup line and create all colours and formulas myself!).  I got feedback on why my shade won, which was the colour is on trend, an instant ‘wow’ upon opening, stunning colour and good creative mix of colour palette.

The stunning little beauty I won was the Marc Jacobs ‘Mademoiselle Rivera’ watch and its absolutely beautiful – it has red diamante lips on the clock face (very apt for the competition!) and because its white it’ll virtually go with any outfit.  I’ve always wanted a designer watch and now I finally have one! AHHH SO HAPPY!!

I had an absolutely great day with some amazing company; Hannah – Baby Blonde, Sabrina – A Little Obsessed, Shirley – Meek N’ Mild, Fei – Peonies and Lillies, Zoe – The London Lipgloss, Fleur – Fleur De Force, Gemma – Gemsmaquillage, Zara – Mouldy Fruit and many more absolute babes!

I’ve got lots of Sleek lipstick, blush and eyeshadow swatches coming up soon so keep an eye out!

Which collection are you eyeing up?  What's your favourite Sleek product?

I don’t know about you, but I have been waiting for MAC’s Venomous Villains collection for a good few months now, so when I heard that MAC were having a Villains Blogger event, I jumped at the chance to go.

image1

It was MAC’s first Blogger event so I count myself very lucky and I’m so grateful that I received an invite to go.  I met some amazing beauty bloggers that I’ve admired and looked up too for a long time, and it was quite surreal to be in a room with so many familiar faces off the internet!

event1

The event took place in MACs High Street Kensington store and we were first shown how to create the look of Cruella DeVil by one of MAC’s senior artists who was fabulous and created this stunning look in just under half an hour.  We sipped on raspberry cocktails and nibbled on macaroons and cupcakes whilst watching this stunning look transform and develop.  I will definitely be attempting this look at home (along with the quiff!).

event2

We were then let loose in the store to play with the new collection and other products to our hearts content.  The new collection features four Disney Villains; The Evil Queen, Maleficent, Cruella De Vil and Dr.Facilier.

event3

I wanted to try the purple Maleficent mineralized eyeshadow in My Dark Magic and one of the lovely makeup artists gave me a makeover using it.  She painted my eye lids with Blackground Paintpot and then put the mineralized eyeshadow on top to create this smokey, vamp look on me.  I love it!  Although I did get a few odd looks on the train home, ha!  She used the new Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Overtime on my lips – a gorgeous creamy pink which glides on like silk and doesn’t budge!

event4

I already had a wish list of what I wanted from the collection when I went to the event after lurking Temptalia’s swatches and reviews of the range – found Here, and I managed to purchase exactly what I was after!

SO, do you want to know what I picked up out of the collection?

Evil Queen Bite of an Apple Blush

blush1

Gorgeous coral pink blush. Very pigmented but I adore it and can’t wait to wear it out this winter to brighten the cold days!

Maleficent My Dark Magic Mineralized eyeshadow

shadow1

Stunning in the pan, sadly not as pigmented as it looks.  Goes on quite gritty and sheer but to get the best application, use it wet or over a dark paintpot as seen in the makeover pics above!  So pretty though, I love it.  And I love Maleficent.

Evil Queen Toxic Tale Lipstick

lipstick1

This was the product I was most looking forward to and I adore it.  A red coral which instantly brightens my face.  Love the packaging, love the colour, love love!

Evil Queen Strange Potion Lipglass

lipgloss1

Another biggie on my wishlist!  Peachy lipgloss.  Its very pigmented and glides on the lips like velvet.  I’m hoping this will last me a long time because it’s so pigmented I won’t need to use much!

Dr.Facilier Cajun Magically Cool Liquid Powder

powder

I kindly got given this as a freebie in my goodie bag and I’m pretty impressed with it!  You will never believe this until you try it out yourself, but it turns into liquid when you touch it… I really can’t explain it, its crazy.  It literally melts onto your fingers which feels crazy but looks gorgeous.  If you pick up the tiniest bit it remains as a powder and sparkles in the light.  The liquid feeling dries as its blended into the skin.  So glad I got this, I can’t wait to play around with it as a bronzer, highlighter and eyeshadow!

There we go!!  I had a fantastic night, I’d do it all over again if I had to!  The Venomous Villains Limited Edition range goes on sale online on Monday, and in stores on Thursday!  Be fast to get everything you want as I have a feeling everything will sell out very quickly!

Do you like the look of the collection?  What do you think of the packaging?  What will you be getting!?

Thanks MAC for a great evening! xo

Edward Bess Zuneta Launch!

Posted by mickung

I was lucky enough to be invited to Zuneta’s Edward Bess Make-up range launch last Wednesday and I had a great night!  I trotted my way down to the stunning venue/town house named 51 Beak Street and once inside I was confronted by a glamorous red room, avec a chandelier, a room full of beauty bloggers, and the stunningly unmissable Edward Bess, sitting at the head of table which was decorated with lovely make-up!

I unfortunately missed Edward talking about his make-up, but we got to play with all his products and had a chance to get to know the man himself!  I must admit, he is lovely, in everyway possible!  He is super friendly, very complimentary and absolutely gorgeous to look at; he has luscious long locks and the skin of an angel!  He said he liked my hair and we got talking about how he started the range.  Edward told me that he chooses and makes the decisions about every aspect of his make-up, from the formula to the colour, and its obvious that he has a real passion for makeup, his range and for making women feel beautiful.

My favourite products by far were the lipsticks.  They are just perfection in a tube.  They have fantastic pigmentation, they smell like heaven, the colour range is fantastic – there is definitely a shade for everyone, and they last forever on the lips, which is something I feel is rare in other brands.

My favourite lip-gloss from the range is ‘Endless Love’, a stunning creamy pink nude.  The glosses are very pigmented and again, smell delicious.  What also stood out to me were the silky cream blushes and the cheek shimmer highlight – which I am dying to get my hands on.  The range looks very sexy, sleek and expensive, meaning I would probably feel like a superstar pulling a EB compact from my handbag to powder my nose, aha!

I obviously had to include a picture of me and the man himself!  He very kindly crouched down to fit my 4’11’’ height!

Meeting fellow beauty bloggers was another definite highlight of the night – It was my first beauty blogger event and I was made to feel very welcome by all of the lovely ladies.  I met and gossiped with - Peonies and Water lilies, Lipglossiping!, Too Much Blush, Vex in the city, Musical Houses, So Far So Chic, & London Beauty Review to name a few! Thanks for making me feel so welcome gals!

We were very generously given an Edward Bess lipstick to take home which I’ll admit now, I am IN LOVE with, but you’ll have to wait for a review :)!

So Edward’s range is now available from http://www.zuneta.com/ so go and check it out.  Are there any items which you have your eye on?
