Fergies Long, Wavy Hair Style

Posted by mickung

Long and wavy becomes Fergie, as seen in photo, left. To get this type of hair style you will need to apply a curl-enhancing gel or cream throughout the hair and blow dry using a diffuser attachment.
Try not to use a brush when blow drying, as this can undo any natural curls that might appear.
After you hair is dry, add soft waves throughout using a medium and large barrel curling iron or a flat iron. It takes a little bit of skill to create these types of curls with a flat iron, so be patient.
Finally, spritz on some shine serum for the glossy, healthy hair look--even if your hair is not healthy.

Celebrities are setting the hairstyle trends for us at every red carpet or awards events. They walk the red carpet with their fancy dresses and matching upsweeps to match.

Not to long ago, we started to see simple updo ponytails being worn at these red carpet events. Now they are becoming the trendy hairstyle that goes with any occasion.

Although the ponytail is somewhat easy to style, it does take a little extra work to get the 'formal ponytail' to look right. Most celebrities that do wear the ponytail have styled their hair to be extra smooth, flat and shiny before they pull it back.

How to have healthier hair

Posted by mickung

I recently heard a dermatologist give several recommendations to people that want to protect or improve the condition of their hair.

Many people have damaged hair that is caused by many different sources. Whenever you color treat your hair, add highlights, get a perm, apply a relaxer, get hair extensions, blow dry, flat iron, curl and even wash your hair, you are damaging it.

Our hair is very durable, yet over time repeated occurrences of damage can result in severely damaged hair.

Recommendations to keep your hair in good shape include:

1. Keep color/perm/relaxing procedures to a minimum of every 6 weeks. The more frequently you do these damaging processes, the higher probability you will damage your hair.

2. Unless absolutely necessary, don't wash your hair every day.

3. Don't flat iron/curl your hair every day. (If you apply a shine serum on the hair after you wash and flat iron it, you may be able to keep your hair smooth for up to 2 days without having to flat iron again. Just be sure to put a shower cap on your hair when you shower. The humidity will ruin your nice straight hair)

4. Don't blow dry your hair every day. If you wash your hair every other day, this won't be an issue, but if you must wash your hair every day (some people need to!) then try letting it air dry every other day. The blow dryer can cause a lot of damage to the hair.
5. Get your hair trimmed frequently. By trimming the hair, you will be cutting off any split ends before they split all the way up the hair shaft.

Hair Bangs

Are bangs a part of your hair style? Well this year, the bangs are back and quickly become THE hair style fashion of 07.

Just about anyone can wear bangs. There are different types for everyone. For example, there is the normal bang (pictured here), the fringe bang, the choppy bang, the layered bang, the side swept bang, the short or long bang and the not really bangs but looks like bangs.

Before you venture off to the hair salon to get bangs cut, be sure to check out all the options available. If you go with a regular bang and absolutely hate them, it will take several months to grow them out.

So don't make any quick decisions. Look around at all the different styles and maybe even try on a hair style with bangs first --see hairstyles demonstrations at http://hairstyles.hairresources.net/

Shiny Hair

How do you get shiny hair?

Shiny hair looks like healthy hair. This type of hair is usually taken care of very well. Frequent deep-conditioning treatments, avoidance of chemical services, eating proper nutrition and overal gentle treatment of the hair can help you to get a shiny head of hair.
But what if you can't do all of those things that result in shiny hair? Is there a way to fake it?
Yes there is. There is a hair care product ingredient called silicone that helps to coat the hair cuticle, thus reducing frizz and allowing for the hair to shine.
Two great tricks to getting shiny hair-when you need to fake it--is to flat iron your hair with a ceramic flat iron. The heat helps to seal in the shine. Then blast the hair with a shine serum product that has silicone in it. Just watch your hair shine with these simple tricks.

Summer Hair Styles

Summer Hair Styles

Are you ready for this summer? Many different hair styles work great for the summer. Of course if you have very long hair, you may want to keep it up in a ponytail if you plan on being outside a lot.
Nicole Kidman, see photo left, has the right idea when it comes to long hair styles for the summer. She is wearing a loose side ponytail that will work for casual as well as formal events.
Slightly side swept bangs and wispy strands are left out of the ponytail, creating a very soft and feminine look for this hair style.
