This radio show has been broadcast on Lantis-net. This trio in anime series "Ga-Rei -Zero-" are Tsuchimiya Kagura, Isayama Yomi and Sakuraba Kazuki will talk to producer (Ito Atsushi) who outlines the plans for the Ga-Rei anime in more information.

- Isayama Yomi and Tsuchimiya Kagura’s backstory.
- Ga-Rei anime has been in planning for close to 2 years.
- The original plan by the producers was to tell Yomi’s backstory, about how she became an evil spirit and etc.
- They have the blessing of the mangaka (Segawa Hajime) to tell their own story, and there is no planned overlap of plot between manga and anime.
- Shiraishi Minoru, Mizuhara Kaoru & Chihara Minori knew from ages ago that they were going to join the radio show.
- They also knew that the 1st episode of anime would made anyone who watched getting a big surprise and wondered what watchers react.
- Unusually, the music for the anime was only composed (by Agematsu Noriyasu) after the episodes had been animated and the voice acting lines recorded - the same technique was also used in Lucky Star. This means Agematsu has to be present at every episode’s recording session.

Since I saw that Lantis-net started Ga-Rei Zero Radio, I does not hesitate for listening their voices. I look forward to listen to voice of Isayama Yomi and Tsuchimiya Kagura for a long time! Geez. I want to understand Japanese language so I can know what they are talking (they are laughing than talking. Ha ha). I wonder they are excited or not when they know that they will join the Ga-Rei Zero radio show. Well, I know Ga-Rei in manga before anime. I already read it and feel like this manga immediately (first love.... just kidding). After that, when I knew that Ga-Rei Zero anime will be release and I watched the first episode, I must confess to everyone that...
1. I am confused because characters of the first episode were not characters that I saw in manga series. And I am so shock once more when the most of characters were...
2. I feel relieved when characters of the manga series appeared in the anime series.

Anime Plot Summary:
Ga-Rei Zero is japanese anime series. The story begins with the Japanese Ministry of Defense has an anti-paranormal special forces group called the Paranormal Disaster Countermeasure Headquarters. They're the ones responsible to protect Japanese soil and its people from supernatural and paranormal events. However, things didn't go so well in one of their missions, which leads to intervention by the Ministry of Enviroment's Supernatural Disaster Countermeasures Division after the PDCH has sustained large numbers of casualties battling demons. Tsuchimiya Kagura and others rush and try to stop crisis but someone (who they know) shows up... Will you kill someone you love, Because of love?

Tsuchimiya Kagura
Anime Info: A high school who has spirit power, talent and daughter of Tsuchimiya family. She likes eating Pocky (with Yomi) and snacks. Her favorite food is Cream croquette and unfavorable food is Century eggs. Her original sword is the "Michael 12" what can swing with devil speed. Kagura is the exorcist who has talent and has many skills but she thinks she has no qualification for the next heritance of Byakuei (spirit beast of Tsuchimiya family) and head of Tsuchimiya family. 3 years ago, Kagura's mother died and she met Isayama Yomi. She was taken into Isayama family and became Yomi's little sister. Kagura loves her a lot and trains herself for helping Yomi's work. Whenever she feel worried about many things, she gets courage from Yomi and others who loves her, that makes her can continue walk in her difficult path. Kagura wants to be with Yomi and others like this forever but the hardest time has come, that leads to farewell of many persons she loves the most. But in the end, because of her love..., Kagura is the only one who can stop this nightmare with her strong decision, with her power.

Byakuei
Anime Info: Byakuei is spirit beast of Tsuchimiya family. After Tsuchimiya head (Tsuchimiya Kagura's mother) died during exorcist, Byakuei was sealed into soul of Kagura's father. An inugami with chains wrapped around it. Whenever Byakuei gets injured, The owner will get hurt too. He is one of the most strongest spirit beasts on earth. He was sealed and has been passed down to the head of the Tsuchimiya family for generations. A lengthy ritual is required to seal Byakuei inside the recipient.

Isayama Yomi
Anime Info: Yomi is the strongest in sword-user. She lost her parents at a young age to specters, and was taken in by Isayama Naraku, then head of the Isayama family. Yomi loves and respects her foster-father, and trains her skills to repay him for his kindness. Her fiance is Izuna Noriyuki who she knew him since she was a kid. She inherits the sword Shishio (Isayama's treasure), which held the spiritual beast Ranguren in it. Yomi has a cousin named Isayama Mei, who was exorcist freelancer. 3 years ago, Yomi and her father go to respect the death of Kagura's mother, she met Kagura and took her into her family. She cares about Kagura a lot. Yomi wants to protect Kagura forever and wants Kagura be her little sister forever but when crisis reaches to Yomi's life, she losts everything and makes her walk away from Kagura's life. In the end, Yomi prays to protect Kagura and eliminate her misfortunes. Finally, her tragedy comes to end by someone she love the most.

Ranguren/Nue
Anime Info: Yomi's spirit beast that within the japanese sword "Shishio". Ranguren is looks like the lion and has many snake tails. He can shoot light power what was called "Houkouha" from his mouth.






Izuna Noriyuki
Anime Info: The only son of Izuna family. He was the fiancee of Isayama Yomi since he was a kid. His power is Kudakitsune that can spy or fight in battles. Noriyuki works exorcist with Yomi and Kagura and love them a lot. He cares about Yomi and give courage to Kagura when they feel down.










Jinguuji Ayame
Anime Info: The Minister of Environment and Fujiko Mine's other granddaughter. Despite being confined to a wheelchair, she is nice and very kind. Her secretary is Kiri Nikaidou who she likes call her "Kiri-chan." Her strategy skill is splendid and she respect Kiri's recommendation. Ayame's husband was dead and she blames that this is her fault. She cannot forgive anyone who possess seshouseki, no matter the reason.
Ayame is also the only person who addresses the spiritual beasts (chiefly Ranguren) with nicknames that end in "-chan" (such as Ranguren > Ran-chan).




Nikaidou Kiri
Anime Info: Ayame's personal secretary who helps her in many jobs. She has a cute, serious and is very loyal to Ayame, and doesn't hesitate to scold others who disrespect her boss. She serves as the disciplinarian and the harsh voice of the Agency, in contrast to Ayame's friendly attitude.









Iwahata Kouji
Anime Info: An agent of the Ministry. He is very tall and muscular, and a powerful spirit-user. Iwahata is homosexual. In anime series, Iwahata was attracted to both Noriyuki and Kazuki that makes Kazuki feels uncomfortable.










Sakuraba Kazuki
Anime Info: An agent of the Ministry. He is a young and sarcastic, annoying yet talented man around the same age as Noriyuki. Interestingly, his weapons are two suitcases that open up at the bottom to reveal rows of muzzles, a kind of multi-row gatling, which he also uses as melee weapons.









Nabuu Brothers
Anime Info: Two large twin brothers who both have the same name, as they come from a culture that give twins the same name. Both brothers tend to finish each other's sentences. Because they look identical, it leads some of their teammates to confusion.










Michael Kohara
Anime Info: A large man from Australia and a very talent in blacksmith. He is the creator of most of the Ministry of Environment's weapons from the practical guns and swords, to the often bizarre irons and boilers. nobody know why he almost naked. Despite being outlandish, he is greatly respected in the Agency for his skill, his creations famed for their ability to augment the user's spiritual output by several times.







Tsuchimiya Garaku
Anime Info: Garaku is Tsuchimiya Kagura's father. He became the head of Tsuchimiya family and receieved Byakuei after his wife's death (Kagura's mother). Garaku is old friend of Isayama Naraku (the head of Isayama family). He needs Kagura, his daughter, will be strong exorcist, so he trains sword skill to her. When Garaku fights, he uses chain what tie with Byakuei as his weapon and shield.







Isayama Mei
Anime Info: Mei is older cousin of Yomi. She is cool, powerful and is freelancer exorcist. Mei likes calming devil spirits by herself and her weapon is beautiful spear. She is a bit jealously about Yomi who will be the next head of Isayama family but she does not show her true feeling to anyone. Mei's father is Isayama Yuu.

Isayama Naraku
Anime Info: The head of Isayama family, the foster father of Isayama Yomi and big brother of Isayama Yuu. He is kind spirit but strict sometimes. Naraku is worried about Yomi's feeling about being Noriyuki's fiance. He and Tsuchiyama Garaku are old friends and met Kagura when she is a little kid.

Isayama Yuu
Anime Info: Yuu is Isayama Mei's father and younger brother of Isayama Naraku. He does not like risk duty about exorcist and that is the reason that his older brother (Naraku) decides that Yomi will be the head of Isayama family next to him. Yuu does not like Naraku's decision to let outsider (such as Yomi) will become the head and receive the treasure of family (the sword 'Shishiou'). He expects his daughter, Mei, will be better than Yomi.

Yattin
Anime Info: Yattin is energetic girl and is a close friend of Miku and studies in the same class with Kagura. In Ga-Rei Zero anime, she and Miku became Kagura's friend too, teasing Kagura and this trio enjoy eating sometime. Yattin and Miku are members of swimming club. Whenever Kagura cannot solve problems or is worried about Yomi and Noriyuki, Yattin and Miku will always encourage her. In anime, Kagura saved her and Miku from spirit disaster. After that, they begin understanding how difficult in duty that Kagura must face.

Miku
Anime Info: Miku is calme and kind girl and is a close friend of Yattin. She studies in the same class with Yattin and Kagura. In Ga-Rei Zero anime, she and Yattin became Kagura's friend too and this trio girl enjoy eating sometime. Miku and Yattin are members of swimming club. In anime, Kagura saved her and Yattin from spirit disaster. After that, they begin understanding how difficult in duty that Kagura must face with it. In the last episode, she gives the only favourite snack (that Kagura likes eating) to Yattin when they are worried about Kagura.

Mitogawa Kazuhiro
Anime Info: This little kid is the only one who starts nightmare to everyone in Ga-rei anime. Kazuhiro was the one who destroyed everthing of Yomi and gave Yomi her sesshouseki. One of his eyes contains a sesshouseki. His status and goal is still unknown.

Manga Plot Summary:
A normal 1st year high schoole student Nimura Kensuke has the ability to see spirits, and his life was completely changed when he met Tsuchimiya Kagura, a girl with the power to summon the strongest spirit "Ga-Rei" called Byakuei. The two work together to find and calm evil spirits under the auspice of the Ministry of the Enviroment's Supernatural Countermeasure Division.

Tsuchimiya Kagura
Manga Info: She is the heroine of this story and the latest inheritance of Tsuchimiya family. Kagura is very gentle and kind person. Her smile makes Kensuke have courage for dealing problem in life. Her spiritual beast is Byakuei (Kagura names it 'Shiro') that she received from her father. She controls Byakuei from the seal on her back and a long chain that connects her soul. In the past, Kagura has a sister named Isayama Yomi who is very important to her. After Yomi died, she meets Kensuke and wants him joining Environment department same as her because he has ability that can see spirits. After Kyuubi disaster, Kagura losts almost of her memories and meets Isoyama Izumi, a girl who transfers to same class as her. She invites Izumi for investigating mysterious events.

Byakuei
Manga Info: Byakuei is Kagura's spirit beast. Kagura calls it "Shiro". A inugami with chains wrapped around it and the chains connect its and Kagura's soul. Whenever Byakuei gets injured, Kagura will get hurt at the same place too. He is one of the most powerful spirit beasts. He was sealed in ancient times and has been passed down to the head of the Tsuchimiya family for generations. It is the only remaining of Kagura's family. In actuality, the real form of Byakuei is a white dog spirit beast. After Kyuubi disaster, Byakuei transfers into small dog. He is very fond of Kagura and protects her from danger.

Isayama Yomi
Manga Info: Yomi is like an older sister and the most impotant person of Kagura. Her spirit beast is Nue that rested within the sword, Shishiou. Yomi treated Kagura, helped her with all her heart and teached her Houjitsu spells. Yomi was killed by Kagura and has turned completely evil in her afterlife. She was talented and strong. Yomi has possessed by Sesshouseki and killed civilians, ministry agents and Kagura's father. As an evil spirit, Yomi tries to release a great demon sealed in Tokyo, she divides her sesshouseki and seals a piece of it in Kensuke's body because she doesn't like him and he is beside Kagura. In this battle, Yomi was defeated by Kagura again and she knows Kagura's feeling that she hopes they can be become the real family.

Isoyama Izumi
Manga Info: A girl who looks like Yomi who has transfered to the school after the Kyuubi disaster. She is slow and not good at anything but she hopes she will be a little useful by searching ghosts with Kagura team. Kagura tries to help Izumi because they are transfer students but Kensuke suspects Izumi and afraid of her a bit. She admires Kagura in the same manner Kagura admired Yomi. Izumi is very happy since Kagura becomes the first friend of her but she is jealous when Kagura and Kensuke get along well or Kagura cares for him. She wants to know more about Kagura so she asks Kensuke. Izumi feel uneasy when she is with Kensuke. It seems Yomi's soul can switch with Izumi' soul in Izumi's body when Kagura is in danger.

Ranguren/Nue
Manga Info: Yomi's spirit beast that rests within her sword, Shishiou. He looks like a big lion with snake tails. Nue was defeated by Kensuke in the second battle of Kagura and Yomi.








Nimura Kensuke
Manga Info: a 1st year high school student who had the ability to see ghosts. Because of this, he was sad and thought this is bad luck, but things changed after meeting Tsuchimiya Kagura. His skill is kendo and he is the son of a kendo instructor, and utilizes his skills during missions. When fighting, he sometimes wear his cool sunglasses. He initially wields "Michael #12,", a sword that Kagura gives him as a Christmas present.




Tanuki
Manga Info: A Bake-tanuki with spiritual powers that can transform into a metal wall with a human face or anyone's face. He tries to prevent its mate from killing, which was possessed by a Sesshouseki. Since Kensuke stops its mate from killing, Tanuki follows Kensuke.






Izuna Noriyuki
Manga Info: An ex-fiance of Isayama Yomi. His spirits are Kudagitsune (spirit foxes), to spy on people, gather informations and fight in battles. Noriyuki is very perverted. In the past, he was part of the information department but he retired. Noriyuki is very knowledgeable about spirits and is skilled in hojutsu. He treats Kagura like a little sister. As Yomi's ex-fiance, Noriyuki still had feelings for her. Noriyuki trains Kensuke become stronger so Kensuke can protect Kagura. After knowing who are the culprit of Yomi's tregady, Noriyuki and Kagura have the same thought to revenge and settle crisis so they fights together again.

Mitogawa Kazuhiro
Manga Info: A mysterious boy who has the sesshouseki in his eye, hoping to use the Kyuubi's powers to revive his mother, an exorcist who had been killed in mission. When Lord Tamamo appeared in front of him in the Vatican's library, he willingly became one of her minions, He was the one who harm Yomi and gave her sesshouseki. After Yomi's demise, Kazuhiro is participating in the Juugondou as Setsuna's underling. He is the only one who can extract souls from their bodies to spirit dimension he calls "Tamamo Garden", where Lord Tamamo rests. Kazuhiro uses Fukojutsu (insect-related Technique).

Imawano Shizuru
Manga Info: A mysterious and rich girl who first encounters Kensuke, Kagura and Kyouko at school. Shizuru threatens Kensuke and asks him to be her dog. She has a sesshouseki on a necklace. Her spirit beast is Kurofoudo (big fish with electric power) that rests within her knife. When she was a child, she was forced to kill a traitor of Juugondou, and feels that there is no way out of the path set for her as heir to a criminal organization. Shizuru likes to challenge Kagura to obtain sesshouseki, with Kensuke as the prize. She has a older sister named Setsuna who now disappeared somewhere. Kagura sees a lot of herself in Shizuru and wants to help her so Shizuru will not meet the same tragedy like her.

Kurofoudo
Manga Info: Shizuru's spirit beast, was originally sealed within her iron knife. He utilises lighting-based attacks. After Shizuru lost her Sesshoseki to Setsuna, she could not unleash Kurofoudo. However, her willpower finally drew him out when attacked by the Jujoundo in the haunted house.




Imawano Setsuna
Manga Info: Setsuna is Shizuru's older sister, who used to be very close with her. Her father tried to kill Setsuna by using Shizuru as a hostage, and so she disappeared. She turns up when her father comes to Tokyo, and kills him, leaving her in control of the Juugondou. Setsuna later attacks the Agency and kills most of the agents. Setsuna is very strong. Her "Eye of Satori" has telepathic ability that enables her to read mind of others. She has a spirit beast, a water-using ogre-like creature called Suiko (Water Tiger). Setsuna wanted Kyuubi's power to set the world into eternal war but actually, her real goal was ...

Mine Fujiko
Manga Info: Head of the Ministry and Kyouko Mine's grandmother. Fujiko may be old but has leadership skill. After the agency was disbanded she retires and watches over kagura and her house. After WWII, when Fujiko was 18, she took care of Kagura's grandmother, Ruri, before the formation of the Agency.




Mine Kyouko
Manga Info: An agent of the Ministry, and heir of her clan. Her grandmother is Mine Fujiko. Kyouko controls paper spirits, or shikigami. She gets along well with Kagura, and often tries to get her and Kensuke together. Kyouko is friendly and very proud person and wants to be stronger so she can shoulder the burden of her family. Her parent's home is in Kyoto.





Iwahata Kouji
Manga Info: A gay and one of agent of the Ministry who distrusts Noriyuki. Kouji is very tall, big and muscular. He is an ex-soldier and was hired by a mercenary corporation until the Agency recruited him for his ability to sense spirits.







Kohara Michael
Manga Info: A large man from Australia. Michael is the creator of most of the Ministry of Environment's weapons. He tends to be arrested by the police for indecent exposure because he is almost naked. Despite being outlandish, he is greatly respected in the Agency for his skill. Michael possesses mid-tier spiritual abilities. Kagura and Kensuke's swords were Michael's masterpiece.




Lord Tamamo
Manga Info: The successor to the Kyuubi, Lord Tamamo is the mastermind behind the sesshouseki-related incidents that have occurred, and Kazuhiro's overlord. She used to be a demon-user who became an evil spirit of incredible power after death. When Kagura attacks Kazuhiro in Tamamo garden, Lord Tamamo reveals herself and tells Kagura and Kensuke to search for the ten sesshouseki, and that the one who collects them all will control the Kyuubi, and be its true successor. Lord Tamamo was defeated by Kensuke who has the blade that can cut dimension.


Kyuubi
Manga Info: A spirit beast of Lord Tamamo that appeared in the capital 1,140 years ago. Kyuubi is a god of creation and destruction that manipulates matter at the molecular level. He have destroyed three dynasties in China and India. Kyuubi was defeated by Byakuei and his power was converted into Byakuei power.



Nabuu
Manga Info: The only twin in Ga-rei story. Nabuu was later killed during the Juugondou's attack on the Agency, after trying to protect Mine Fujiko from enemy fire. Nabuus are part of the San people from Africa, they lost their home and family to war.
