I love nailvarnish! You will never catch me without it on, so I will be posting weekly my favourite, with swatches and a small review on each.

Today I'm reviewing two of my favourite pink nailvarnishes, one Barry M and one Stargazer! Both are so cheap but so beautiful and well worth it!

Stargazer, available in New Look and other small chemists £2.50


This is probably my favourite nailvarnish ever! The formula is really different to any other NVs I have tried. It glides on in the smallest layer ever (if that makes sense? Its quite a thin formula) yet it holds so much pigment. Because of the thiness of it, it dries in a matter of seconds. I've also worn this under UV light and because its a neon pink, it glows! It chips in a few days, but because it dries so quickly you can always just put another layer on. I definitley recommend stargazers make-up in general if you're after bright neon colours!


Barry M £2.95 - 279 Bright Pink


This colour as you can see is a gorgeous baby pink, its quite abit brighter than it is in these pictures but you get the drift! The formula is creamy and thick, like most Barry M nailvarnishes, and it takes a while for a layer to dry, but its worth the wait for the cute colour!

I went on a little shopping trip to Bluewater (a shopping mall in Kent) last week as I wanted to pop into MAC to get my Liberty of London fix!  But I stopped off in Boots on the way and picked up two cute 17 nail polishes!
We have – Mint Choc Chip
 
A lovely milky minty green/blue varnish, I adore this colour and I think its very apt for spring/summer. 
And Orange Soda -
  
I wanted a coral varnish and I picked this polish up aswell.  It turns out its more orange than coral, but in the flesh its much a paler milkier colour than in these images.
Both of the polishes are VERY pigmented and apply really smoothly.  All the images here were wearing just two coats.  The varnish can apply quite streaky sometimes on the first coat, but the second coat should sort it out straight away.  What I love about this brand of varnish is how quickly it dries.  You’d think that a creamy varnish would take ages to dry (like the Barry M ones) but this dries very quickly, within two minutes.  These polishes had the sticker on ‘just in’, and came out with the ‘Candy Collection'’ range, and which also includes a cute lilac polish, as well as a milky yellow and candy floss pink.  I applied the orange one on Friday, and spent the whole weekend unpacking boxes in work so the ends chipped quickly which was expected, but other than that they lasted pretty well. 
I’m quite impressed with these polishes and will definitely pick more up (after my make-up shopping ban! not sure when it’ll end!).  They are also great value – under £3 a polish.

OKAY OKAY, I know I say this EVERY time I get a new nail varnish, but I have again found my perfect favourite nail polish from Barry M – Apart from Pink Flamingo, of course.
297 – Blue Glitter

This nail varnish is AMAZING!  It is so beautiful, I’ve only been wearing it for one day and I’ve already had numerous compliments on how pretty it is!  In real life it is a lot more stunning than in the pictures, I’d say it is more of a teal/blue/green in the flesh.  It sparkles whenever you move your hands and I’ve fallen in love with it.
In the pictures above I’m wearing two coats – so you don’t need too much product to get the gorgeous glittery effect.  It dries in quite gritty – you can see in the pictures, but I much prefer the gritty look rather than a flat effect, if you know what I mean? It just stands out a lot more.  The one thing that lets me down about this polish though, is the fact that it does take ages to dry.  You can probably tell in these pictures that the middle nail smudged so I had to apply more to cover it up – but this isn’t just a normal smudge, its a ‘if-i-smudge, half-the-varnish-comes-right-off-the-nail’ smudge, which sucks but I can live with it.

I also picked up 292 - Navy

This is a beautiful colour and the only one I have like it in my collection, but obviously I’m not as amazed by it as the previous one.  To the eye this looks more like a dark dark blue/black, but in the light it shines blue which is very pretty and quite elegant as well.

I have two new favourite nail colours which I have both purchased in the last month… I guess I should really put these in my ‘March Favourites’, but I’ll do a separate post for that!
Firstly we have
Barry M – 305 Pink Flamingo

I ADORE this colour, I do admit I have too many pink nail varnishes, but this is my new favourite.  It is a bright pink but with a peachy undertone (I think), which I am obsessed with at the moment.  It’s darker than the Barry M baby pink swatched here, and I love wearing this shade.  I picked this up in Boots where it was part of a ‘Buy two Barry M nail varnishes for £5’ - (There is now a 3 for 2 offer on Barry M items – so go check it out!). ( I will swatch the other colour I bought in this deal soon!)  I applied three coats of this shade and it started chipping within two days.
Secondly, we have
No7 Speed Dry Nail Colour – Coral Kiss 39 –

I bought this with the Boots £5 off No7 voucher, so this only cost me £1.25.  At first I just bought this as it was a bargin and I didn’t want to waste the voucher – But I am SO glad I did pick this up.  It is my perfect red!  I am wearing it right now and I feel ‘adult?’ aha, and sophisticated wearing this.  Again, it is more of an orangey red which I love.  This also does dry relatively quickly which I was impressed at.  I applied this three days ago and only the tips of my nails have started chipping, so it has good lasting power!  Also, I only needed two coats of this polish, as it is very pigmented, which saves time and product!
What did you guys purchase with your Boots £5 off No7 & Ruby Millie vouchers?  Has anyone tried these shades before?XX

All my close friends will know that I went NUTS when I first saw this nail polish on a few blogs because I adore and am obsessed with holographic-ness! I actually searched three different Superdrug stores to hunt this down and I finally found it.
549 - Holographic

Words can not describe how in love I am with this nail varnish. I’m so in love I bought two bottles at once as I didn’t want to ever not own this. I mean, come on, who can’t agree that this is just MAGICAL?

The formula, in my opinion, is perfect. Its applies in a really thin yet pigmented layer, which takes 30seconds max to dry, you can tell it is dry when its starts to shimmer amazingly in the light. I apply three coats when I use this product to build up the most beautiful colour ever. When you do use it however, do make sure that the coat before is dry before you pop another one on, as it does get very streaky otherwise. You also can’t really use a base coat with this as it streaks like crazy as well – its kind of hard to explain but if you’ve used it then you will know what I mean.

I took this picture two days after having put it on – as you can see it does chip really easily, which is a shame, but as it dries so quick you can always pop another coat on. This picture was taken when I was in the car on a sunny day – the sun just makes your nails goes crazy.
I’m not actually positive if this colour is still available? I haven't seen it around for a while, but I really hope it isn’t limited edition! If someone's in the know, please tell me if its still available or not!
I also have one of China Glaze’s holographic nail varnishes which I will swatch and review in comparison to this polish when I’m back at my other flat!

562 – Magic Star

562 is a beautiful glitter varnish, which shimmers blue, green and yellow in the light.  It’s very pretty to look at and really does sparkle in certain positions.
02 – Pearl

02 is a white, pearly metallic shade.  With three coats you can build it up to a stunning white opaque metallic look, which is very pretty.  I bought this shade originally to layer with brighter colours to give my nails some dimension (I will do a tutorial for it soon!) but I’ve realised its actually quite unique and pretty on its own!
Conclusion - Both of these swatches have three coats of the varnish on so you can see their full potential.  The varnishes themselves take a while to dry – I always manage to smudge them.  I really do love GOSH’s nail varnish collection, the colours are always unique, they don’t stain my nails and last pretty long (for me!) – around 2 days before chipping!

So I did a tadddd of shopping the other day and just accidentally seemed to buy make-up! I’m so bad.
So, went to MAC in London’s Soho a few weeks back and bought
 
Paintpot in Bare Study
& Woodwinked eye shadow!
I’ve never buy more than two items at MAC, ever, as I always feel so naughty and guilty doing it, as although everything is just beautiful, I’m only a student and just can’t afford it in the first place!  But my collection is slowly growing and I adore every item that I’ve got there.  I decided to get Bare Study PP as I LOVE shimmery gold eyeshadows, one of my favourite eyeshadows being MAC’s Nylon, and as that's running out I decided on this!  So far I’ve only used it with UDPP underneath so I’m not sure at its staying power and its ability to non crease yet, but we will see. Woodwinked is just beautiful, I can’t find any faults in MAC’s eye shadows.
So then, last weekend I went shopping for some black cardboard for my project and for some milk and bread, and came back with lots of make-up and feta cheese! Ugh, help me someone!  I blame this on the ‘Boots Clearance’ in my local retail park.
Boots clearance is actually, uh-mazing.  They have so much stuff for so little money.  For example, I bought 10packs of colour camera film for £3! (Would have been £10 in a normal Boots).  Basically, all discontinued products go to Boots Clearance stores and get sold for little dosh.  This doesn’t mean the products are out of their sell by date, it just means they need to get rid of it as the packaging is being re-vamped or its being replaced etc.  Obviously I had a look around the make-up session and ended up getting this-

Botanics eye shadows in 48 Blazing Star, 125 Milk Thistle, 70 Angelica and magnetic compact.
Botanics blush in 25 Nutmeg
Botanics ‘Quench your thirst foundation’ in 10 Almond
No7 Nail base colour in 10 Nougat.
Firstly, how cute are these eye shadows! You choose your colours individually and then pop three of them into the magnetic compact case, which has a mirror as well…


I haven't tried the blush yet, but will do soon!
Also, the Botanics foundation is pretty impressive, its SPF12 and its actually the palest colour I've ever seen on the high street, and I thought the one I was using now was the palest (L'Oreal infallible perfecting foundation 015 Porcelain).  The jar is pretty annoying to use as its just a stick attached to the lid, but I'm pretty positive i could screw one of MAC’s foundation pumps onto it.
You know what, I have NEVER seen Botanics make-up in a Boots store before, no wonder its all being discontinued! All of this came to like £7, which is an absolute bargain, the only let down being that once its gone I won’t be able to purchase again.

After the National Beauty Blogging Event in the Excel centre in February, Jess and I wandered down to the Professional Beauty Show and came across NuBar’s nail stand.  It was beautiful – completely overwhelming with so many beautiful nail colours available to purchase.  I’ll be honest and say I’d never heard of NuBar before, but because of the extortionate amount of shades I suspected they were well known and professional.  I managed to get my hands on two shades that I have fallen head over heels for, swatches below!

Star Sparkle

 

Its a fact that I’m completely obsessed with anything holographic and sparkly, this includes nail polish and so I carefully choose out Star Sparkle as a sample to try out from the brand.  Its described as a silver and holographic glitter in a clear base.  I’ve been having lots of girls asking me what nail polish this is when I’ve been out and about, its getting a lot of attention.  In the swatches above I used three coats – as its in a clear base you do need to layer it up to get the full effect.  This lasted around five days on my nails before starting to peel off.  Of course its a bit of a pain to remove because its a glitter but its worth it, it’s so damn beautiful!  This really sparkles and shines beautifully in the light and often looks like a silver glitter in other lights.

Palau Coral

I have also received lots of compliments on this nail varnish, and I’m not surprised, its gorgeous.  The perfect shade of coral for spring and summer.  Looks corally-orange in some lights and pink in others.  I’m also really happy about the lasting time of this nail polish; it lasted four days without a topcoat before chipping and even then the chip was tiny.  The colour suits my skin being both pale and tanned (see previous fake tan review), and I’m pretty sure it’d suit all skin colours.  The swatches above are with two coats each – its really pigmented, the formula is lovely and creamy so it glides on smoothly.

What I think - I’m pressed with the lasting power of both of these polishes and they’ve become two of my favourites in my collection.  They retail at around £8 each, which is a bit pricier than Barry M and other high street polishes but I think its worth it for the lasting time and the good formula.  You can buy NuBar polishes online here.

I’m going to make a purchase soon once I’ve made some money, I’m already eyeing up the other holographic prism range!

Last week I attended the National Beauty Blogger event (which was good fun) and I was lucky enough to get my nails done by two lovely ladies at the Kiss Nails stand.  I’ll be honest and say that I’d never actually heard of Kiss nails before but now I’m addicted!

I’ve worn fake acrylic nails (done in salons) in the past and after every time I got them applied I swore to myself I’d never ever get them done again – just because of the state that they left my nails in.  So for the past few years I’ve just been trying to make the most of my own nails by trying to let them grow and by painting them in lovely shades.  BUT I seem to have a problem maintaining long nails – I get them to a nice length and then I pick them all off until they are short again when I’m bored (nasty habit).  So when I was offered to have glue on nails applied I couldn’t resist.

I got the Kiss Everlasting French, Medium Length nails applied and instantly loved them, they made my hands look and feel so feminine.  Once I got home I filed the nails down to a size that I felt comfortable wearing which you can see below – really easy to shape with the file that is included in the kit.

 

Since then I’ve also tried the Kiss French Petite nails -

 

How to use – Its so easy!  You basically size each nail up for both hands before you start gluing.  There are plenty of sizes to choose from so its pretty easy to match them up to your nail size.  Then you simply apply the glue supplied to both the fake nail and your actual nail, then apply the falsie and hold it on until its stuck (about 10 seconds I found).  Simple as!  It’s also handy to keep a cotton bud nearby to gently remove any excess glue from around the nail and underneath the nail tip.

What I think – Kiss nails have transformed me into a false nail addict.  I just adore my nails and hands with the falsies on, they look feminine, pretty and just neat.  I am seriously impressed with the lasting time of this product as well.  Mine lasted six days until my index finger nail fell off (at work whilst opening boxes – fortunately I had the glue in my bag to stick it straight back on!).  Throughout those six days I cleaned my room, washed the dishes several times, wrote lengthy words and generally used my hands a lot and they stayed put.  I removed the nails with the Kiss false nail remover set (which is basically nail remover in a tub with little rough edges to you can scrub them off whilst you soak – very handy).  My nails weren’t too damaged underneath – hardly at all in fact, they just felt a little weak, nothing a bit of nail hardener won’t fix. 

They retail at around £8 in Boots and Superdrug which is great for a week’s use, considering you can pay around £25 for acrylics that completely ruin your nails.  Also – the French manicure did not chip at all.  Whenever I have got acrylics in a salon, the design chips in a few days – where as I found with these that the white tip stayed on all week.

I definitely recommend these and my sister has already gone out and purchased some after seeing mine.  My mum has also been impressed and is going to apply them before we go on holiday this year (she’s never had falsies so this is a big deal!).

I feel like the older I get, the worse my memory gets!!  I can’t remember much of January already and I’ve been so worried about forgetting everything that I’ve been writing in my journal lots, just to remind myself of all the things I’ve been getting up to!  Is anyone else having this problem?  I had to think long and hard about what products I’ve been enjoying using the most this month, but I finally remembered, haha!

Stargazer Nail varnish – Still obsessed with nude natural nails, I found this in New Look and have been wearing it ever since.  One coat is natural looking, two coats gives you a nice natural colour but you can still see the white of your nails through it which is a nice touch – they don’t look too mannequin-like.  I know it will go with everything I wear so I’ve had no reason to take it off!  Will post swatches soon!

MAC Peaches Blush – I’ve wanted this blush for ages and I’ve been wearing it all January.  Its so so pigmented so I know this is going to last me forever before hitting the pan, and the colour is just gorgeous.  It really is just an orange peach shade, which will look lovely in spring/summer too!

MAC Morange Lipstick – The only red I’ve been wearing all month, you can lightly dab it on your lips for a flush of orange-red, or you can layer it up for a stunning, glamorous look.

MAC Please Me Lipstick – I find this very easy to wear no matter what colours I decide to use on my eyes, it goes really well with either brown or black eye shadows.  I actually think this colour would suit anyone!

MAC Select Cover-up Concealer in NC15 – My skin has been pretty terrible lately due to trying out new skin care products and stress of my last term at University and this little concealer has been a lifesaver.  Its really pigmented so you only need a tiny amount and I just pat it directly onto any redness or spots and they immediately vanish.  It doesn’t work as well when you just rub it into the skin, so try patting it on instead!  Will definitely be purchasing another when I run out.

No7 Smokey Eyeliner Brush – I managed to get around 5 of those Boots vouchers in January and I only used one of them – stupid huh!  I got this brush with my voucher and so I only paid something like £1.64 for it, and its quickly become my favourite brush.  Its perfect for adding a darker colour to the crease of my eye and for applying powder shadows around my eyes to line them.  Love it!

The Body Shop Black Liquid Liner – My staple liquid liner! I forgot how much I loved this product until I used a Rimmel liquid liner for a whole month before realising it just wasn’t as good as my trusty TBS one.  The black is the most perfect black, the nib of the liner is great and it lasts pretty well on my eyes.

I apologise for the amount of MAC products in this post – I understand that its not very affordable, but I’ve really adored these products this month!  But don’t fret, I’m still a high-street make-up lover at heart!

I had to share with you these two nail varnishes as I think the quality and the price of them are to rave about!  I hadn’t heard of Precision Nail Lacquer's before but I quickly learnt that they are about to take on the UK market after being successful all over the world, mainly because of their variety of colours and because of the ingredients that they don't contain.

I am so happy to say that these nail varnishes do not contain Toulene, Formaldehyde and Dibutyl Phtate – all harmful ingredients found in most other nail polishes.  I was sent two polishes from the Autumn/Winter Limited Edition range, Glam Rock and I’ve been wearing them all party season and I actually think they are rather festive, but not too OTT for this cold, winter season.

Party Like a Rock Star

SO stunning, I love this colour and I have received lots of compliments on my sparkling golden nails.  This really glistens in the light and it matches my gold shimmery Christmas tree perfectly.  I used three thin coats on the swatches above. 

Very Important Polish

A true deep purple shade which sparkles blue and purple in the light, I think this is described as ‘aubergine’.  A darker colour than I normally go for but stunning when worn with a little black dress and heels.  I think short, square nails with a darker shade like this is very ‘on trend’ this Winter and I love that it makes my pale skin look milky and like an English rose!  I wore two thin coats in the swatches above.

What I think - I have certainly noticed a difference in the quality of my nails after wearing these polishes.  Normally after removing nail polish, my nails don’t feel up to standards, so I just slap more nail colour on and the circle continues, but with these my nails are left feeling healthy and strong after wearing the colours.  They are easy to remove and I haven’t noticed any staining of my nails after wearing them.  I’d say you need two to three coats on each nail which is normal for any polish.

I also decided to play around with a bit of nail art with these polishes and they worked surprisingly well together – Gold and dark purple zebra stripes!

I am a big fan of Stargazer makeup - I remember being 16 and going to the local ear piercing parlour, which stocked stargazer products and I loved trying the colours on the back of my hand and my friends and I were always using the semi-permanent colourful hair dyes!  When they contacted me to ask me if I’d like to try out some more products, after reading my review on one of my favourite nail varnishes ever, HERE, I jumped at the chance!

 

Star Pearl Eye shadows - £3.00 each (Had a little accident with the first and chipped it a bit!)

I am in love with these two eye shadows and they are the stars of the show here.  How beautiful are they!!!  Peach Flush is a perfect dupe for MAC’s vanilla and so much cheaper.  At such a good price I’m surprised that not everyone in the blog world is raving about them!  The second is a stunning pink berry colour which I can’t wait to use.  They are SO pigmented and not glittery or chunky at all – more like finely milled pigmented pressed shadows, very similar to Sleek’s eyeshadows.  Very impressed with these and I will definitely be trotting down to my local New Look to get more of them!

A very cute glittery pink – its stunning in real life but so hard to photograph.  It doesn’t really look as pink in real life, it just sparkles the prettiest pink, blue and purple in the light.  I recommend you to try it on if there's a tester so you can see how pretty it really is.  Also looks lovely over other nail polishes!

Another hard one to photograph – Purple and sparkly! Very pretty, the glitter is very fine and catches the light beautifully.

317 -

My favourite out of the bunch – a two-tone metallic purple and navy blue, its stunning and I’ve only just got this back off my Mum who pinched it as soon as I opened the package!  Looks like a deep navy but shines purple and blue in the light!

All of the polishes need about two coats each and they last a good few days on the nails without chipping.  They are easy to remove – even the glittery ones, and they take about as long as normal nail polishes do to dry.

Glitter Eye Dusts - £3.00 each

I was slightly shocked when I first saw these and my immediate reaction was ‘Wow they’re bright!!!’ and I was unsure of how I’d use them.   Once I’d swatched these however, I can definitely image using 103 and 5 as a hint of colour when I do my black smokey eye look.  They are all very beautifully pigmented, although purple being a bit more chunky than the others.  They really remind me of Barry M’s Dazzle Dusts in terms of pigmentation and colour range, although a few quid cheaper!  A must have for fancy dress and experimenting!

What I Think – Stargazer offers really good quality products for a great price.  It can be hard to get hold of in shops – and the stands in New Look are often quite a mess, but its worth having a browse because I think you can find some real gems.  The only thing that bugs me with the products is that they have numbers instead of names, although I can tell that they have started naming new products such as the pearl shadows.

I’ve found new favourites in the Star Pearl eye shadows and I can tell they will be a staple in my everyday make-up kit for a long time coming.

Aren't they pretty!  Ever since GOSH first appeared in Superdrug I’ve always been a fan of their nail polishes and I always have a cheeky look at them when ever I go into the store.  These 7 have made their way into my collection, see swatches below!

Nero – The blackest black, every girl needs a black polish in her collection, right?!  Although I don’t wear this often, I know I can rely on it when I do to give me a full even coverage in just one coat.

 

75 Avantgarde – I must have bought this when it was on a 3-4-2 offer in Superdrug as it isn’t usually a colour I normally go for (I’m usually drawn to brighter colours) but this is a nice colour to have as its quite glamorous and mature.  A gorgeous deep burgundy red which looks like a deep brown in certain lights.  I love how pale this makes my skin looks!

549 Holographic – My favourite in the collection for obvious reasons.  I have two of these just in case one ends as I adore it so much.  I have already reviewed this here, but I think its deserving of more attention on my blog.  The formula is great although streaky on the first two coats, but it dries really quickly and never smudges.  Only downside is it chips after one day, but I don’t mind as its so beautiful.  I need more special occasions to wear this to!

562 Magic Star – A clear polish with lots of beautiful glittery sparkles in!  I like layering this up on other colours to add some shimmer and sparkle.  The second picture above is more colour accurate and shows what the glitter looks like in the flesh.

 

02 Pearl – Shiny white polish – looks like a thick ice on the nails.  I bought this especially to play around with in nail art and I often coat one half of a nail with this, and the other half with a bright colour which adds a really pretty dimension to bright nails!  (Sorry about the horrendous second pic – I tried to take the red tungsten glow off of the picture but instead made my hand look rather deadly!)

F1 base – A pretty boring base colour which I always use before I wear dark polishes!  Nice for French manicures though.  Quite a thick formula which does take a while to dry.  Swatches above is with two coats, but you only need one when doing French manicures!

595 Miss Sweety – The newest polish to my collection and my joint favourite along with holographic.  I adore this peachy cream shade and I wore it all summer long (forgot to put it in my August Favourites though!).  It suits my skin tone perfectly and I feel it makes my hand look delicate and feminine without being too over the top and bright.  Its a tad more flesh coloured and muted than in the pictures above.

What I think – All of the polishes above retail for £5 at Superdrug, although there's almost always a 3 for 2 offer on the GOSH range so I’d wait until then to grab some!  They all have a great colour pigmentation, quite similar to the Barry M polishes and you only need two coats tops to get a nice even finish.  I’ve never really come across a nail polish that doesn’t chip quickly on me, and these are no exception, I find they last 2-3 days before chipping (apart from the holographic one which chips after 1 day!).  I also really like the packaging of these polishes, nice and simple and elegant.
