OMG!!!!! This will be TEH EPIC and HISTORIC!!!!!!

The crossover manga chapters between Gintama and Sket Dance that ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on April 11 will be animated for television . The collaborative manga chapters featured the main characters of the Gintama manga and the Sket Dance manga together. In one story, Gintamas main character Gin insults the Sket Dance characters, and Gin and Sket Dance's Bossun battle it out. The animated version of the Cross Over manga chapters involves a rare collaboration between the anime studios Sunrise (Gintama) and Tatsunoko Productions (Sket Dance). Tomokazu Sugita, the voice actor for Gin, happens to also voice the Sket Dance character Switch. The Gintama episode with Sket Dance characters will air on September 26, and the Sket Dance episode with the Gintama characters will air on September 29.

Film journalist Hiroo Otaka has reported that Warner Brothers Japan will distribute the tentatively titled Gintama 2 anime film. Otaka added that the production schedule and release date of the new work are still to be decided.

Maybe for 2012?

Weekly Shonen Jump magazine will announce next Monday that the Gintama anime will return this month next year.

The anime had ended in March, but Shinji Takamatsu, one of the main directors of the anime, had said at an event later that month that "Gintama is absolutely not over. It hasn't even begun yet! It will definitely return."

The story of Gintama takes place in Edo (known today as Tokyo because of its name change in 1868), Japan, which was conquered by aliens called Amanto in the late Edo period. The samurai of Japan fought the aliens, but after their defeat the Amanto placed a ban on carrying swords in public. The plot is focused on an eccentric samurai, Gintoki Sakata who helps a teenager named Shinpachi Shimura save his sister Tae from a group of aliens who want to make her part of a brothel.
