Scene Anime

Hey girlies!  Today at work, it was ‘Gaga’ Day, and we had to dress up like the goddess herself!  I thought I would pop up some pictures of how I wore my make-up for my shift!

My look based based on and inspired by her opening look in the prison sequence in her music video for Telephone

It took me very long time to do, I’m not quite sure why, it was just getting the shape of her eye shadow in the crease of my eye which was difficult, but I think I got there finally!


If anyone wants to know how I did this I -

• Primed my eyelids, then used a white eyeshadow all over my lids, up to the brow bone.
• I then used a combination of brown eyeshadows and blended it into the crease of my eye, following the natural curve of my eyebrow.  I also blended it down to the inside corner of my eye and a tad down my nose bone to give extra definition.
• I then lined my top and bottom lashes with a liquid liner, and extended the flick out
• I applied the biggest eyelashes I could find!
• Oh, and then I filled my brows in big time! First with a brown pencil liner, then with a black pencil to give more of an arch.

On to the lips -

• I lined my lips in black kohl eye liner
• Then applied a red lipstick
• And then blended them both together with a lipstick brush! Easy Peasy!

This is me at work -

My mummy helped do my hair – She made two small plaits either side of my head, and pinned them together at the top of my head with a pink bow – just to add some crazyhairness.
What does everyone think of my attempt?  I did feel a tad self conscious out and about at first, but I got used to it.  The eyelashes were so heavy though, I ended up taking them off three hours into my shift! I have to dress up again as Gaga on Saturday and I’m going to do a completley different Gaga look for then, which of course I’ll take pictures off!! XX

In this photo I was testing out my new Babylis Pro 230 Radiance Straighteners, one side is obviously straightened and the other isn’t.  I normally straighten my hair once a month as I’m scared about damaging it, and kinda prefer my hair wavy.  I do adore the straighteners though, they heat up to 230 VERY quickly and make my hair super straight.

Sorry for the lack of posts girlies, I’ve been super busy letting my hair down for the party season and have even starting seeing a guy! Christmas romances are lovely, I now have a constant grin on my face!

On Thursday I went to see Lady Gaga at the O2 with my best friend and we decided to go all out and dress up for the occasion. I’ll say now, the gig was incredible. We were standing at the front and were so close to Gaga herself, I got some great pictures and we had a good old dance to her best tunes!

I’ll show you our makeup and tell you what products we both used!

Me

I have done this look once before (here) but I decided to do it again a lot darker and heavier. This look is from the Sandwich scene in the Telephone video!

Rhi decided to do the classic lightening bolt look – which is really fun to do and looks striking. She’s an actual brunette but bought a blonde wig especially for the occasion.

There we have it! I wish I had have filmed a tutorial on how to do the look – maybe I near next Halloween, haha! I’ll leave you with some photographs I took of Lady Gaga herself!

I’ve always been pretty funny when it comes to mascara – I can’t seem to ever find one that I like and that gives me exactly what I want.  I’ve been using my favourite – The Body Shop’s Super Volume Mascara for the past year, but since receiving this in September I haven’t stopped using it!

I’ve only ever tried one other MAC mascara and I wasn’t that impressed (Fibre Rich Lash Mascara), it just didn’t do much for my lashes, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised with this product and would recommend it to my friends and to you guys!

THE WAND

The wand is nothing special, reminds me of Rimmel’s Extra Super Lash wand, kind of cone shaped but it gives me exactly what I want with my lashes!

WITHOUT

ONE COAT

One coat is good but I think you definitely need a second just to lengthen more and to help separate the lashes – they can sometimes look slightly clumpy after one coat.  Gives you a great dramatic black colour though, perfect for night and day.

TWO COATS

Love, love!  How lovely does it make my barely-existent lashes look!   Perfection in a tube I say.  A second coat really combs through the lashes to help separate as well as adding extra length and volume.

CONCLUSION -

This mascara does the trick of volumizing the lashes & darkening them but without leaving them looking too false or clumpy.  I hate mascara’s that are too subtle as much as I hate mascaras that are too obvious, and I find that this sits perfectly between the two, giving me gorgeous long lashes with my day-to-day smokey eye look.  A bit pricey at around £12.50 but I think its worth it!

Yesterday I decided to do a colourful look for work as I haven’t in a long time and I wanted to be adventurous. I ended up creating this blue look!

If I want to be ‘colourful’, I always end up wearing blue? Not quite sure why, but I think its the easiest bright colour for me to pull off. Blue also looks stunning on brown eyes so try it out if you’re a brown eyed girl!

In the future I definitely want to try out a purple look as I never wear purple, probably because I’m scared that I’ll look like I have a bruised eye! But I’ll try it out soon and report back!

I’ve never done an In’s and Out’s blog post, but have decided to do one today! If I do one regularly you’ll get to know a bit more about me and hopefully I’ll learn more about you guys aswell!

INS!

• Being Happy – I am so content and happy with life right now, I feel like everything is perfect!
• Colour Coach – I have been appointed the position of Colour Coach at work at The Body Shop!!! This means I’m in charge of make-up and all aspects of it – make-over's, training the other girls, figures, etc! Very excited as my boss and I have come up with some very exciting ideas!
• Summer!!!! – Even though the weather isn’t perfect at the moment, I can tell this summer is going to be amazing. I turn 22 in two weeks, I’m going on holiday to France in three weeks – which will include Disneyland, lots of Sephora trips and staying in a Chateau in the South! I also have lots of gigs and theatre trips lined up which I can’t wait for – OkGo gig tomorrow, and WolfBoy at the theatre on Friday!

OUTS!

• Guys!! I really don’t have any time for them at the moment! I always seem to get messed around! But in the words of Jamie Callum – I’m all over it now!
• Decorating my room – Its taking forever and I’m painting it all by myself which makes my arms hurt and means I’m always covered in paint!

I’m ILL!! I hate being ill, I have cold and flu symptoms and they just came out of nowhere!  Does anyone have any good tips for getting over colds quickly? I’ve already stocked up one Vit C tablets and hankys!

Lately I’ve been experimenting a bit with make-up and taking some some portraits!  I have some make-up skillz and photography skillz and I never use them together, so I thought why not!

This first look was inspired by Beyonce’s new video – (Why Don’t you Love me?) In which her make-up is gorgeous and she looks just stunning!

I used –

• The Body Shop eye shadow in 45 & 01 Shimmer, Black liquid eye liner, White pencil liner, 05 blusher,

What do you guys think? They are a bit random, its quite hard to take good pictures of yourself without seeing through the lens, but a tripod and zoom definitely helped!  X

The clocks have gone forward and we are now officially in Spring!  As the sun is still shining brightly at 5pm, I’ve decided to use my favourite eye shadows at the moment and do a few tiny looks and examples of how you can wear them!

I’m using The Body Shop’s shimmer cubes in #19 .  Here are two other looks using the purple and teal colours, with the idea of lining the eye.

Teal -

 

The teal is my favourite colour in these cubes, it dazzles like a gem and is so flattering!

Purple -

 

The purple is a great way of using colour a little subtley.  The actual shadow is a lilac, but it really jumps out, or pops (haha!) on top of darker eye liners.

I already did a look using the blue cube a few pages back (Which you can find here), which looked like this -

 

So we have, The Body Shops Shimmer cubes #19

 

On each eye, I

• covered the whole eyelid in the golden seashell colour to give a nice base and took it up to the brow bone for a nice flattering high-lighted lift
• Lined the eye with a coloured eyeliner (for the teal and blue eye I used The Body Shop’s blue pencil eyeliner, and for the purple look I used their purple pencil eyeliner).
• With a small angled brush, I picked up some of the eyeshadow and then drew over the top of the eyeliner for an intense effect.  Just push the shadow on top and it should stay put longer.
• Finish off with lashings of mascara, I used the Body Shops super-volume mascara!
• Oh, and for added dimension, place a tad of the seashell gold or the other colour you used on the inside corner of your eye!

This look is easy and fun, and I love that you can use the colours to accessorize with your outfits, handbags or shoes! Here is a previous post on the shimmer cubes and the range it came out with!
