NATURAL HAIR ROCKS.!

Posted by mickung
Recently, I have been rocking my afro in all its glory. (I hate the bow hair accessories. They make me look too girly). It ain’t easy maintaining natural hair, I must say. Especially in Nigeria where they are limited awesome natural hair products. I stick to the combination of shea butter and virgin olive oil. My hair seems to love t. I am no hair aficionado, but I must confess I enjoy being natural. (Why can’t the hair automatically put itself into twists though? My arms are complaining!! LOL)
The reaction of my friends to my afro is so cute and funny. These were the same people who said I looked like a guy when I chopped it off. Recently, my ex-boyfriend who once said he didn’t like my newly cropped hair buried his hands in my hair and called it “fluffy” when he saw my afro and said I looked so cute in it. Of course I had the “Oh yeah?” look but I was so satisfied that I have proved to these people that natural hair is amazing.
My hair is right now in braids (sorry peeps, I couldn’t resist! X_X) but I can’t wait to loose it and feel my hair again.
Thought I’d share these pictures with you all. J

Pardon the shrinkage! LOL

Close up!

OH YES! A goofy picture!

My natural hair journey was featured on FancyHub, an African fashion website. Do read it. http://www.thefancyhub.com/my-natural-hair-journey-onyinye-fafi-obi/

Yesterday, StyleMania Magazine hosted a party for Ace TV personality, Funmi Iyanda. She is also on the cover of the recent StyleMania Magazine, where she looked dazzling in a Bridget Awosika dress.
It was really weird dressing up for the event, knowing that such events, I am always backstage in my flipflops, brogues or sandals. Felt weird walking the red carpet. This dress is by MOOFA and I was really skeptic about it during my fittings, but was persuaded to try it on by the designer and my friends. When I wore it, I fell in love instantly. The print is actually so cool and the “shredded” thingy on it gives it a different vibe. Any outfit that is weird and unconventional, Onyinye Fafi Obi loves it instantly. LOL

DRESS;- MOOFA
SHOES;- Christian Louboutin
PURSE:- Random

You won’t believe how cheap this purse is. Bought it from my “Vintage item” supplier. Don’t know whether it’s vintage or just a random purse.

Close-up on the dress.

I was tired of taking pictures. Nigerians stare a lot, you know.

The event was so lovely. I was really inspired by Funmi Iyanda’s story and the cute things people came on to say about her.

She is absolutely stunning.

HOUSE 38 STUDIO

Posted by mickung
Nigerian designers stay steady being an inspiration to me! I am always amazed at their lush fashion studios and awesome pieces laid out for purchase. Although the thought of grabbing one piece and running out of the studio always comes to my mind… their studios are always so comfortable, I never want to leave.

Today, I went to the House 38 studio to pull pieces for a shoot and I was so stunned. The colour of the wall, the carefully arranged pieces on racks, the wide array of fashion magazines kept on the table et al proved that it was my kinda environment! YEAH!

The house 38 sisters, D and S were so kind, they let me take pictures of the store and drool in appreciation of their attention to detail and beading of the pieces!
ENJOY THE PICTURES!

After major Hard work backstage at the Elite Model Look competition. . . as the models waited for the top 5 announcement, we had the opportunity to take pictures of them, all dressed in pieces by Nigerian designer, Bridget Awosika.

Early this year, my friend, Terence Sambo of www.onenigerianboy.com released t-shirts in collaboration with a fashion brand, Homegrown.
I was given one of the t-shirts as a gift and I simply adore it. I love the fact that it was black and the letterings on it were in different colours. It was also modified to read I “Heart” One Nigerian Boy instead of “One Nigerian Boy”.

I had various fittings yesterday so I had to doll up in something comfortable. The Maxi dress trend seems to be catching on well with the rest of the word, so I decided to jump on the bandwagon with this jersey maxi dress and wore the t-shirt over it.

Like I always tell people, I don’t know jack when it comes to make-up. I have actually resigned myself to the fact that since Eye-liner makes me have really cute eyes . . . that’s all I need. LOL

Today was the Elite Model Look competition Fittings and I spent time trying to fit the models into the pieces with the head stylist, Veronica Ebie - Odeka.
With awesome designers on board like Republic of foreigner, Bridget Awosika, Eki Orleans, Virgos Lounge, and Swimwear designer, Melissa Odabash, I am not exaggerating when I say the show is gonna be awesome.
I work closely with Veronica and she has a styling outfit called Vane style. Her style is immaculately clean and she stays stylish all the time. Today’s shoot was not an exception as she stays killing it with her outfit.
CHECK IT OUT;-

I also ran into Ifeoma Odogwu and in between hugs and chit-chats, I realized that she looked awesome in her casual chic outfit. I Love her shorts. *snatch* J

So there you have it. . .
I can’t wait for the show!
